STATION TWELVE - JESUS IS RAISED UP ON THE CROSS

It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When He had said this, he breathed His last. (Luke 23:44-46 – see Colossians 2:13-15)

In your Prayer Map app search the “Pray Elsewhere” bar for someplace in your community where you might feel like an outsider or where you may feel that you’ve achieved status. Or maybe search for a place that comes to mind where you feel far from everything. Think about Christ gasping for his last breath outside the city walls. We spend so much time and effort trying to get “in” socially, professionally, or relationally. Christ lived a life outside the status quo and then he died outside the city walls rejected and crucified. He didn’t pursue status or approval. He pursued people. In His death He invites us outside of our earthly pursuits and into a relationship with Him. Meditate on all the things you may be pursuing for earthly reward. Post a prayer of thanksgiving that He has made a way for you to be in relationship with God that is not dependent on your achievements.
